Supersymmetric SO(10) for fermion masses and mixings: rank-1 structures of flavour

چکیده
We consider a supersymmetric SO(10) model with a SU(3) symmetry of flavour in which fermion masses emerge via the see-saw mixing with superheavy fermions in 16+16 representations. In this model the dangerous D = 5 operators of proton decay are naturally suppressed and flavour-changing supersymmetric effects are under control. The mass matrices for all fermion types (up and down quarks, charged leptons as well as neutrinos) appear in the form of combinations of three rank-1 matrices, common to all types of fermions, with different coefficients that are successive powers of small parameters, related to each other by SO(10) symmetry properties. Two versions of the model are considered, in which approximate grand unification of masses takes place between quarks and leptons of the first family (with very small tanβ) or for the ones of the second family (predicting moderate tan β ≃ 7–8). The second version exhibits an interesting mechanism of unification of the determinants of the Yukawa matrices of all types of fermions at the GUT scale and it provides a perfect fit of the known data for fermion masses, mixing and CP-violation. It predicts a hierarchical pattern of neutrino masses with non-zero θe3, within 2-7 degrees. In addition, it predicts the correct sign of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via the leptogenesys scenario.

Naturally Degenerate Right Handed Neutrinos
In the context of supersymmetric theories, a weakly broken gauged SO(3) flavour symmetry is used to produce two highly degenerate right handed (RH) neutrinos. It is then shown that this SO(3) flavour symmetry is compatible with all fermion masses and mixings if it is supplemented with a further SU(3) flavour symmetry. A specific Susy breaking model is used to generate the light neutrino masses ...
متن کاملFermion Masses at intermediate tan β: Unification of Yukawa Determinants
In the context of the Grand Unified MSSM, we investigate the fermion mass matrices at GUT scale. We note that from the experimental mass pattern the determinants of the Yukawa matrices at this scale can be unified with good precision. Taking the unification o determinants as an hypothesis, it gives two model independent predictions that in the MSSM turns out to determine an appropriate value fo...
متن کاملFermion masses and mixings in a flavour symmetric GUT
We describe a supersymmetric Grand Unified Theory based on the gauge group SU(5), or SO(10), invariant under the interchange of any SU(5), or SO(10), with each family multiplet transforming non trivially under one different individual group factor. A realistic pattern of fermion masses and mixings is obtained as a result of an appropriate choice out of the many possible discretely degenerate va...

After we study the 6-dimensional N = (1, 1) supersymmetry breaking and R symmetry breaking on M4× T /Zn, we construct two N = (1, 1) supersymmetric E6 models on M4×T /Z3 where E6 is broken down to SO(10)×U(1)X by orbifold projection. In Model I, three families of the Standard Model fermions arise from the zero modes of bulk vector multiplet, and the R symmetry U(1)F ×SU(2)4− can be considered a...
متن کاملA Predictive Superunification SO ( 10 ) × ∆ 48 ( SU ( 3 ) ) × U ( 1 ) Model for Fermion Masses and Mixings
Based on a few basic assumptions, a predictive supersymmetric grand unification G U = SO(10) × ∆ 48 (SU (3)) × U (1) model is proposed. Thus, all the observed 45 chiral fermions with additional 3 right-handed neutrinos are unified into an irreducible triplet 16-dimensional spinor representation of G U. Electroweak symmetry breaking naturally requires two Higgs doublets which belong to a single ...
